After a long wait, the most anticipated film adaptation of Broadway’s Wicked is finally getting ready for its release. The fans of the musical have been waiting nearly 10 years for its return.

The film was announced in 2016, and since then we have slowly gotten about the production details. Who are the cast of Wicked?
The talented actors Cynthia Erivo and Ariana Grande play the roles of Elphaba and Glinda respectively. Jonathan Bailey, the Bridgerton star will play the male lead role, Fiyero. The rest of the cast includes Michelle Yeoh as Madame Morrible, Ethan Slater as Boq, Jeff Goldblum as the Wizard, Marissa Bode as Nessarose Thropp, and Peter Dinklage as Dr. Dillamond.
Who is the director of the movie?
Jonathan Murray Chu, who is best known for directing the film Crazy Rich Asians, is the director of the movie. In 2021 it was announced that Chu would direct Wicked, the two-part film adaptation.

What is the movie about?
Based on the book by Gregory Maguire, tells the story of the wicked Witch of the West and Glinda, a good witch, before the Wizard of Oz. The two of them met at Shiz University and became roommates and there they were known as Elphaba and Galinda.
When will the Movie be released?
The film was first decided to release in 2021, but the COVID-19 pandemic caused production delays. The principal photography of the movie started in December 2022, and due to the SAG-AFTRA strike, it was paused from July to November 2023. The filming was concluded in January 2024.
The first part of the film is scheduled to be released in the theatre on November 27, 2024, and the second part will be released on November 26, 2025.

The director shared two stills from the movie in April 2023, which showcase Grande and Erivo in their characters.
The first trailer of the movie dropped during the Super Bowl in 2024. The trailer shows Elphaba and Glinda in action and the audio includes some famous song snippets.
