Miranda Cosgrove Recalls a Young iCarly Fan Telling Her She Got Old

Miranda Cosgrove recalled an interaction with a young iCarly fan who told her she got old during her appearance in Live With Kelly and Mark for the promotion of her upcoming film Mother of the Bride.

During that conversation, host Kelly Ripa said that the 30-year-old actress hadn’t changed much since her debut in School of Rock in 2003. Then Miranda remembered an encounter with a young fan during a recent trip.

She said she was a target recently; a 7-year-old boy kept looking at her in the toy aisle, and she thought he was watching her show. He followed her, and instead of telling her he had watched the show, he said she had gotten old. The audience of the show laughed at the comment of Cosgrove, “Kids are so honest.”

Ripa replied that she disagreed with the boy’s statement. She continued that Cosgrove didn’t look old because she had been interviewing Congrove for years, and she looked exactly the same. The actress thanked the host and said to her that she also seemed exactly the same.

Congrove also shared that she sometimes got recognition for her role in iCarly, but after the series ended with its sixth season, she didn’t get much recognition anymore. However, after a decade, Netflix picked up the series, and the new generation started watching it.

Cosgrove first appeared on television by voicing Lana Lang in Smallville. She debuted in the film School of Rock, directed by Richard Linklater. She acted in a major role in the Nickelodeon series Drake and Josh in 2004. She played a lead character in the comedy films Yours, Mine and Ours, along with her Drake and Josh co-star Drake Bell.

Cosgrove played the titular character in the sitcom iCarly, which ran six seasons from 2007 to 2012. The series tells the story of the teenager Carly Shay, who creates her own web show, iCarly. It was nominated for an Emmy Award five times in the category of Outstanding Children’s Program.

The reboot of iCarly premiered on Paramount+ in 2021, and it ran for three seasons, which portrays Carly as a young adult. She was trying to create a webcast with her friends. The cancellation news of the fourth season really made the fans, and they used social media to demand another season by using the hashtag #SaveiCarly since the news came last year.

In October 2023, a spokesperson confirmed that iCarly will not return for the fourth season. They also added that the series had a three-season run and completed the story in a way that the fans wanted Carly and Freddie back together. However, it is still being determined why the series ended abruptly.
