Marc Guggeneheim is writing a spin-off on Jackpot for Sony

Jackpot universe Spider-Man

The rumors that rang months ago are confirmed with the news from Deadline that Sony Pictures is developing a new spin-off of the Marvel universe from Spider-Man. Specifically, there is a film about Jackpot, a character we met in August 2018 could be the subject of a solo film.

As the news now jumps, the writer Marc Guggenheim is writing this movie for the studio. The producer and showrunner of Arrow Precisely he already wrote some comics for the character long ago, in the comic series with Brian Reed. This project would thus join the other spin-offs on the way, such as Kraven, Black Cat or Silver Sable, without forgetting the movie that was jumping yesterday and that could be the one by Madame Web.

In the comics, Jackpot is a superhero with exceptional strength, and her story in the comics is somewhat convoluted as to what is possibly simplified for the film. The first incarnation was Sara Ehret, a scientist, who, while pregnant, is doing gene therapy research and is exposed to “Lot 777,” a virus that rewrote the DNA in her cells. Her baby is born healthy, but she realizes that in addition to being a first-time mother, she has superhuman strength after having been forced to save her family.

Finally, he tires of the burden of fighting crime and hands the suit over to Alana Jobson, an ambitious companion who takes over the character but must ingest a Mutant Growth Hormone to match the superhuman abilities of Jackpot. In short, she dies when she joins Spider-Man to locate the villain. Menace and die in action. Ehret, who feels guilty, returns to work and keeps his identity a secret while raising a family and fighting crime.
