South Park Becomes ‘South America’ for Season 29 Premiere With Trump in New Intro

True to its word, South Park rebranded itself as “South America” with the debut of Season 29 on Comedy Central on September 16, 2026, complete with a new opening sequence featuring a cameo by President Donald Trump. The Emmy-winning animated show lived up to its satirical name change, which creators Trey Parker and Matt Stone announced on Sept. 8, mocking Trump’s executive orders to rename geographic locations and tech companies’ compliance with them.

South Park Season 29 premiered September 16, 2026, with the show officially rebranding as “South America” and a new theme song featuring a brief Trump appearance. The name change is a dig at President Trump’s orders to rename any geographic names, such as the Gulf of Mexico to “Gulf of America” and Lake Ontario to “Lake America,” and the compliance of Apple and Google in changing their maps accordingly.

In the new opening sequence for the long-running animated series that debuted before the premiere episode “South American Biker Gangs,” the name change became official. Trump makes a quick cameo in the new intro, making Parker and Stone’s satirical announcement canon for the season.

The creators billed the rebrand as a direct response to corporations altering their platforms to mirror Trump’s executive orders. Trump has signed orders to rename the Gulf of Mexico as the Gulf of America and Lake Ontario as Lake America. Google Maps and Apple Maps have made the changes for U.S. users.

“South American Biker Gangs,” the Season 29 premiere episode, was less a direct satire of the president, even with a Trump cameo in the new opening sequence, and more about the arrival of e-bikes in town.

Official logline: “When e-bikes come to South America, the boys rule the streets and the parents of South America can’t recognize South America.” The episode focused on the effects on small communities instead of making Trump the central figure.

Comedy Central’s South America returns for Season 29 on Wednesdays at 10 p.m. ET/PT. Episodes are available to stream on Paramount+ the next day at 6 a.m. ET/3 a.m. PT in the U.S., Canada, and Australia.

The Season 29 premiere comes after South Park’s recent Emmy win. The show won an Outstanding Animated Program award earlier in September at the Creative Arts Emmys for its Season 28 episode, “Sermon on the Mount.”

Trump was featured prominently in the episode in a storyline in which he is romantically involved with Satan, a satirical storyline the show has been developing for the past few seasons. The show was nominated for the award alongside Bob’s Burgers, Rick and Morty, The Simpsons, Smiling Friends, and Star Wars: Visions.

The satirical rebrand references Trump’s executive orders and the subsequent compliance of the major tech companies. After a trade dispute with Canada, Trump signed an executive order directing his administration to rename Lake Ontario Lake America. The change appeared on Google Maps and Apple Maps for users in the United States.

The “South America” rebranding is another example of South Park using political satire to criticize presidential action and corporate compliance. The show has kept mocking Trump in recent seasons, even as it faces the difficulties of satirizing a president who remains a polarizing figure.

The name change also highlights ongoing conversations about corporate responsibility and the ability of executive orders to influence how private companies operate and provide mapping services.

“South America” will continue to air new episodes weekly through Nov. 25, 2026, on Wednesdays. The show will air on Comedy Central and stream on Paramount+ the day after.
