Sofía Vergara Shares Dating is Challenging After Joe Manganiello Split
Sofía Vergara and Joe Manganiello were separated nearly one year ago. In a recent conversation with PEOPLE, the Modern Family star opened up about motherhood, divorce, and dating.
Vergara said that dating in public was challenging because everything would be exaggerated, and sometimes it would not be interpreted correctly. The actress continued that being in a relationship was hard, but she just got used to it because of being famous and couldn’t complain that much.
Vergara shared her thoughts on relationships ten months after her split with her ex-husband, Joe Manganiello. They were married for seven years and announced their separation in July 2023. However, their divorce was finalized in April 2024.
She revealed in that interview that their marriage had ended because of her decision to have no more kids and how it affected her marriage because Gonzalez wanted to have a child together.
Vergara said that there were things in life that might sound good, but in reality, they were not. She also added that she was already a mother and knew what the best mother was, which took many sacrifices and energy.
The actress is a mother of 32-year-old son Manolo, from her previous relationship with Joe Gonzalez, which they split after two years. She didn’t want to start her journey as motherhood again.
Vergara and Manganiello first met in 2014 at the White House Correspondent’s Association Dinner. In August, they officially confirmed their relationship. They got married in November 2015, and in July 2023, they announced their divorce.
While speaking about separation in an interview, Vergara said that her marriage was broken because her husband was younger and wanted to have kids, but she didn’t want to be an old mom. She felt that it was not fair to the baby. She continued to respect the people who ever had the baby at that age, but not for her. She concluded that she had a son, now 32, and ready to be a grandmother, not a mother.
After ending the marriage with Manganiello, Vergara has been romantically linked to Justin Saliman, an orthopedic surgeon. The pair was first photographed in October last year when they went to a dinner at Funke in Beverly Hills.
Just after she and her husband declared their legal separation, Vergara confirmed her relationship with Justin. The actress posted on her Instagram stories with a shot of Justin and wrote, “If you ever get a knee surgery, make sure you get a handsome doctor who will sleep with you that night.” She wrote at the end of the post, “Luv U,” and tagged Saliman with a red heart emoji.
Sofia Vergara is known for her role in Modern Family and Griselda. She has recently appeared in the films Strays and This Is Me…Now: A Love Story. She also voiced in the upcoming animated movie Despicable Me 4.
