Kim Kardashian Says She and Ye Are ‘Aligned’ on North West’s Music Career

Kim Kardashian said that she and Ye, formerly Kanye West, are communicating better regarding their daughter North West, 13, starting a music career, making sure they are on the same page about her professional projects before she moves forward.

Kim Kardashian and Ye are “on the same page” in terms of their daughter North West’s music career, she told Esquire in an October 2026 interview. Kardashian said she purposely “holds her back” from some forward-facing projects to make sure they’re well-managed and that both parents back her creative outlets.

In a profile published by The Sunday Times on October 4, 2026, Kardashian said she and Ye are navigating their daughter’s growing aspirations in the entertainment industry. Kardashian hinted at a shift in how they communicate about North’s career, despite past public disagreements over parenting.

That’s something that her dad and I have better communication about,” Kardashian said. “We make sure we’re on the same page, and she’s in projects we both enjoy.”

Kardashian, who shares North and 7-year-old Psalm, 8-year-old Chicago and 10-year-old Saint with Ye, said North is the most ambitious of their four children in terms of creative endeavors.

“North loves it a little bit more than the rest,” added Kardashian. I cuddle her. She wants forward-facing projects. “I’m trying to enjoy those moments and not do everything that comes her way, so we can really make sure we handle it the right way.”

Over the last two years, North West has gradually begun to establish herself publicly in the music industry. She released her first EP, N0rth4evr, in May 2026. She first charted at age 10 when her collaboration with Ye and Ty Dolla $ign, “Talking,” hit No. 30 on the Billboard Hot 100. She also appeared on Ye’s 2024 album, Vultures.

Most recently, North headlined her first solo concert at The Vic Theater in Chicago in September 2026. Kardashian and Ye appeared to support their daughter, with reports saying they watched the performance from separate areas of the venue before meeting briefly backstage

The move marks a major shift to organized, collaborative co-parenting between two of pop culture’s most scrutinized figures. By establishing mutual approval processes for a minor’s professional pursuits, Kardashian and Ye are drawing a boundary, placing the child’s well-being above immediate commercial opportunity. It also provides a template for how high-profile families can manage early exposure to the entertainment world while trying to retain a semblance of normalcy.

North West will likely continue to build on her music career slowly. Earlier this year, a joint tour with artist Molly Santana was canceled, but North has said she remains committed to her artistic identity. “You’re a young artist, and you have to figure out who you are before the world tries to tell you who to be,” North said in a summer 2026 interview with Billboard.

Kardashian and Ye’s reps did not immediately respond to requests for comment. Apparently,y future projects need both parents’ agreements before they move forward.
