‘Sport Of Thrones’ Duo David Benioff & D.B. Weiss Set HP Lovecraft Thriller Film At Warner Bros

EXCLUSIVE: Sport of Thrones creators David Benioff & D.B. Weiss have set at Warner Bros an untitled thriller impressed by the graphic novel Lovecraft. Set to jot down the script are Phil Hay & Matt Manfredi, the scribe group behind such movies as Aeon Flux, Experience Alongside and the Karyn Kusama-directed The Invitation and Destroyer. Kusama will probably be exec producer.

The filmmakers are retaining it near the vest, however I’m instructed the film asks a horrifying query: what if H.P. Lovecraft wasn’t making it up? What if the monsters he created are actual? Additionally, the film will probably be set in 1920 throughout the Cthulhu mythos. That’s all I received.

Benioff & Weiss have been eyeing this challenge and have been in dialogue with Warner Bros’ Courtenay Valenti and Toby Emmerich for a number of years, whereas they have been consumed with the monumental process of translating the George RR Martin Sport of Thrones novels into eight epic seasons. The duo subsequently signed a megadeal to create TV and movie initiatives for Netflix in August, however the dialogue on this film predated that deal.
